Weighted average price calculations :

          • On 01/01/16, input movement for 10 units with an unitary price of 100 for a total amount of 1000. Weighted average price is : (10x100)/10 = 100.
          • On 01/02/16, issue for 1 unit with an unitary price of 100 for a total amount of 100. The issue price is the weighted average price calculated above : 100.
          • On 02/01/16, input movement for 10 units with an unitary price of 90 for a total amount of 900. Weighted average price is now : (10x100+10x90)/(10+10) = 95.
          • On 02/02/16, issue for 1 unit with an unitary price of 95 for a total amount of 95. The issue price is the weighted average price calculated above : 95.
          • On 02/03/16, issue for 18 units with an unitary price of 95 for a total amount of 1710. The issue price is the same weighted average price : 95. There were no input movements so the weighted average price stays the same.
          • On 03/01/16, input movement for 10 units with an unitary price of 110 for a total amount of 1100. The weighted average price is now : (10x100+10x90+10x110)/(10+10+10) = 100.
          • On 03/02/16, issue for 1 unit with an unitary price of 100 for a total amount of 100. The issue price is the weighted average price calculated above : 100.

          • On 03/01/16, input movement for 10 units with an unitary price of 110 for a total amount of 1100. The weighted average price is now : (0x94,74+10x110)/(0+10) = 110
          • On 03/02/16, issue for 1 unit with an unitary price of 110 for a total amount of 110. The issue price is the weighted average price calculated above : 110.

Summary :

With method 1, every movement will affect the weighted average price.

With method 2, if the stock quantity reaches zero, the following weighted average price will be based on the new input price.
